The Red Dog Story

Ceramics shaped by garden, process and place.

My Story

I work from Red Dog Studio in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, creating sculptural and functional ceramics inspired by the my garden.

For more than twenty-five years, I’ve shaped clay by hand, drawn to its rhythm and the balance between playful and practical forms.

My work is primarily hand-built, allowing me to slowly shape each piece while layering in textures from the natural world — leaves, bark, lace, and found objects that leave their subtle marks.

The garden remains a constant source of inspiration, influencing the colours, textures, and quiet details that find their way into each piece.

The Red Dog Name

Red Dog Studio takes its name from my beloved red dog, Jo, who was rarely far from my side while I worked in the garden and studio. Today another lively red companion, Poppy, keeps watch nearby while new pieces take shape.

Much of the work begins in the garden and comes to life in the studio.

Visitors are welcome by appointment throughout the year, with seasonal open studio events that invite you to step into the space and experience the work firsthand.
